Jacob Light is a visual artist that creates intricate drawings of animals, predominantly in ink on paper.

Jacob’s work is inspired by his observations and personal encounters with animals, both in his local surroundings and during his travels abroad.

He lives on the Isle of Wight, England, surrounded by the sea, cliffs, ancient woodland and rolling hills.

Driven by a fascination with the natural world, Jacob seeks to convey the unique personality of each creature. Through a dedication to realism and a focus on the intricate details, Jacob brings his subjects to life.

His influences predominantly come from natural history illustrations, etchings, woodcuts and engravings.

Beyond the visual form, Jacob explores ideas and symbology through the depiction of animals to express facets of the human condition.

Jacob studied Illustration, painting and drawing at Falmouth University of the Arts, UK and is an associate member of the International Society of Animal Artists.
